Sir,

I am directed by Secretary Sir Philip Cunliffe-

Lister to acknowledge the receipt of your letter No. F 3175/2087/23 of the 11th of April, enclosing a copy of

a note from the Japanese Embassy regarding a proposal for

a regular direct Wireless Service between Hong Kong and

Japan,

2. In reply I am to request you to inform Secretary

Sir John Simon that as it is anticipated that the Hong

Kong Wireless Service will shortly be transferred by the

Government of Hong Kong to Imperial and International

Communications Limited, Sir Philip Cunliffe-Lister thinks

that it will be more convenient for any new services to be

negotiated with the Company when the trans.er has been

completed.

3.

Sir Philip Cunliffe-Lister suggests that the

Japanese Ambassador should be informed in this sense.
